George Timock received both his BFA and MFA in ceramic studies from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His creative career spans more than forty years, both teaching and focusing on large raku double-walled vessels.
Recent journeys to Eastern Europe with KCAI study abroad program have inspired his focus; reassessing his vessel format with unique Hungarian porcelain architectural details and precious lusters of European gold and platinum.
His career lists more than 100 exhibitions with selected solo and group exhibitions presentations: Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC; Vatican Museum, Vatican City, Italy; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; and Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York. Selected collections include the Smithsonian Institution, The State Collection of Hawaii in Honolulu, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art in Sedalia, Missouri. Noteworthy selected awards include Outstanding Special Projects Award at KCAI and Nation Endowment for the Arts Grants.
