The Many Facets of Tiki Style – The Art of the Tropical Cocktail Retreat
Tiki Talk, Pop-up Exhibition and Book Signing by Sven Kirsten, Tiki Collector and Author
In the history of cocktail culture, the Tiki lounge really surpassed all other urban watering holes as a crafted environment: From floor to ceiling tropical textures, to intricately carved beams and sculpted drink containers, down to the smallest details like matchbooks and swizzle sticks, the Tiki bar aimed to create the illusion of a tropical hideaway in the concrete jungle.
Tiki culture authority Sven Kirsten will share some of these artifacts from his collection, and sign his new book, Tiki Pop, published in conjunction with his recent exhibition at the Musee Quai Branly in Paris.
Please RSVP: rsvp@craftinamerica.org.
