Opening Reception for The Spotlight: Functional Lighting as Illuminated Sculpture
Saturday, June 11, 2016
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Join us at the Craft in America Center for the Opening Reception of The Spotlight: Functional Lighting as Illuminated Sculpture, a partnership exhibition with The Furniture Society.
The gallery will showcase 20 artists from across the United States whose works range from intimate desk lamps to suspended modernist reinventions of the chandelier. The Spotlight: Functional Lighting as Illuminated Sculpture includes a material vocabulary spanning blown glass, stainless steel, concrete, plastics, and diverse fine woods. Rarely considered within conversations regarding art practices, this exhibition explores lighting as both expressive form and progressive design that engages contemporary cultures and lifestyles.
