Mark Mitsuda joined us at the Craft in America Center for a talk about his dual roles as artist and educator

Since 2000, Mitsuda has been employed as an Academy Art Instructor at the Punahou School, a coeducational college preparatory day school in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mitsuda first learned the art of glassblowing himself as a high school student at Punahou School, working under the tutelage of Hugh Jenkins. He continued his studies at Alfred University, Alfred, New York earning his BFA in glass in 1992. In addition to teaching at Punahou, Mitsuda has taught at Penland and his work is in numerous private collections as well as the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts. Mitsuda will discuss his recent projects and how teaching inspires his work.
