LA Objects: Leather Forming Workshop

Join us for an afternoon workshop with “materialsmith” and Location Services artist Kerianne Quick. Quick is known for incorporating non-metal materials and alternative processes in her jewelry practice, as well as using objects for storytelling. Participants will learn the leather working techniques Quick used to create the work on view in the exhibition Location Services.

Participants will be led through a storytelling exercise, learn how to form leather using traditional techniques, learn about leather tooling, leather finishes, and attaching hardware to create a functional piece of jewelry or key chain fob. Each participant will commemorate their own LA story by making a formed leather brooch or key chain to take home.

All materials will be provided. Material Fee: $50

Class limited to 14 participants and preregistration is required. This workshop is for ages 14 and up.
