A conversation about Felicia Rice’s 40-year career as an artist and her collaborations with writers and other artists. Rice is featured in the VISIONARIES episode, premiering on PBS on December 21, 2018 (check local listings).
Felicia Rice set Moving Parts Press in motion in 1977. Motivated to undertake nontraditional women’s work and gain access to the power of the press, she learned the art of letterpress printing and began to craft books of contemporary art and literature. Felicia has one foot firmly planted in the 19th century and the other in the 21st. A student of the history of the book and typography, she also utilizes digital technology to produce letterpress artists books of radical art. She has been collaborating with Chicanx visual and performing artists, writers, and philosophers for over 25 years.
