Dante Marioni: Artist Talk
Dante Marioni Talk Thursday, March 9, 2017, 7pm Craft in America Center
Dante Marioni, who has been at the forefront of glassblowing on an international scale since his first solo show in 1987, will be speaking at the Center and giving an up close and personal look his recent work. Having been raised with a glass blowpipe in his hand as the son of pioneering studio glass artist Paul Marioni, Dante gravitated towards glass as a teenager. After years soaking up an understanding of the material at Pilchuck and with the guidance of master artists Lino Tagliapietra and Benjamin Moore, among others, Dante developed his own language and approach to glass that melded classic forms to a striking modern sensibility. His works are included in major museum collections across the world. With this being the first visit by this acclaimed artist to LA since 1996, it will no doubt be a memorable evening.
