Conversation: Cederquist in Southern California
Curator Conversation: John Cederquist in Southern California
Tuesday, April 19, 2016
6:30 – 7:30 PM
Join the Craft in America Center as we consider John Cederquist’s evolving relationship with wood, studio furniture, and sculpture. Center Director Emily Zaiden and Independent Curator Sharon K. Emanuelli will reflect on experiences curating exhibitions of Cederquist’s work and the significance of his oeuvre. Cederquist appropriates imagery from Classic Hollywood animation and 19th Century Japanese woodblock prints. This Southern California artist speaks to the heart of what it means to live in this region, from the importance of water conservation, to surfing, to lunch in a bento box!
This event is open to the public in connection with our current exhibition:
John Cederquist and the Art of Painting with Wood.
