In honor of Earth Day, meet book artist and print maker Catherine Alice Michaelis, who will put her press to the test as she guides visitors to generate timely, political statements about the state of the environment. Michaelis, who is featured in Craft in America’s episode, NATURE, founded May Day Press in 1992 near Shelton, Washington. Her books are included in prestigious public and private collections across the country. She has recently explored other forms of image making in her practice, including video poetry and letter pressing directly on film, and she remains driven by a passion for the natural world.
