The Ritual and Craft of the Cocktail this THURSDAY, 7pm
Please join us for a double-header with local cocktail aficionados Joe Keeper and Marcos Tello. Joe, founder and owner of Bar Keeper in Silver Lake, is an expert on cocktail history, from barware to spirits. Marcos is a true cocktail craftsman: he excels in the performance aspects of mixology, from motion dynamics to the visual aspects of crafting a cocktail. Joe and Marcos will share their expertise in tandem, honoring the culture of making spirits and capturing the essence of “craft” in Crafting the Cocktail.
ABOUT JOE KEEPER
Originally from Austin, Texas, Joe Keeper is the owner and founder of Bar Keeper in Silver Lake. Opened in 2006, Bar Keeper specializes in tools, vintage barware and small batch spirits and bitters. Joe prides himself on his considerable dedication to acquiring knowledge of cocktails and spirits, which like all good quests enhances the life of the seeker. Bar Keeper was just chosen by Soho House’s House Tonic magazine as one of the six best liquor stores in the world.
ABOUT MARCOS TELLO
Tello has worked in the cocktail industry for thirteen years. While mostly self-taught, he furthered his education under the tutelage of cocktail gurus Sasha Petraske, Audrey Saunders, and Dale DeGroff to both refine his artistry and delve deeper into the history behind the trade. Today, Tello is passionately committed to sustaining a classic “cocktail culture” in Los Angeles. By consulting for various restaurants and lounges Tello has successfully helped to install classically inspired cocktail programs throughout the Los Angeles area, including Seven Grand Whiskey Bar and The Edison.
This event is part of our programming series for Crafting the Cocktail, an exhibition of handmade barware and accessories.
