School Outreach Showcase
It has been a fantastic year working with Fairfax High School Visual Arts Magnet as well as our first year working with Van Nuys High School. Students were able to meet, learn from and become exposed to artists like Yoshiko Yamamoto and Fuller Banjo through artist visits to the schools. Students were able to create projects based on the learned skills; they created prints, kaleidoscopes, and Ukulele designs. Before the in-classroom artist visits, students came to the Craft in America Center to personally experience the exhibits and see their work. The exhibition featured an additional project of reinterpreted, contemporary totem poles taught by teacher Denise Davis.
The students’ work is currently being displayed in the Craft in America Center until May 28, 2016
