Overview: “Behind the Bar” at Craft in America Center
We’ve had a busy two weeks at Craft in America Center. First, our glass salon, then the last event in our programming series for Crafting the Cocktail.
On February 12th we invited Brandyn Tepper, Head Mixologist at Hinoki & the Bird, and Melkon Khosrovian of Greenbar Craft Distillery to talk about their respective crafts as a bartender and spirits-maker. The night began and ended with delicious beverages: first with Brandyn’s bourbon punch, then with samples of Greenbar Distillery’s signature poppy liqueur. Melkon created it for his wife and business partner, Litty Mathew, who adores the bittersweet flavors of the poppy-infused liqueur. Raised in New England, Melkon sees California as a free-spirited playground that encourages risk-taking and having fun while doing it. Sometimes the road to success can be a challenge, but it has the potential to be equally sweet if you stop to look around you.
