In Memory of Susan Grode

To the Craft in America Family,

Today I write to you with a heavy heart.  Susan Grode, one of the first people with whom I shared my idea for a television series honoring the crafts, has died.  Our condolences to Susan’s family, who nurtured her for the past years after her stroke.  They helped to bring joy to her life and recognition for all that she did for her family, the Women’s Movement, and the arts.  During her tenure as President of the Craft in America Board, our nascent organization produced over 12 episodes of the Craft in America series, opened a Center for Craft in the heart of Los Angeles, initiated a Craft in Schools program, and successfully built a strong board of directors.  Her generosity and willingness to use her significant legal expertise for the good of  our country and our culture made her a protagonist for Craft in America. We are ever grateful.

Susan Grode will be missed by all of us.
