Filming with Michelle Holzapfel

The Craft in America crew visited Michelle Holzapfel’s studio in Vermont for our upcoming episode, NATURE.

Michelle and her husband, David, are both woodworkers, using New England’s hardwoods and burls, as a way of honoring Mother Nature. Michelle creates trompe l’oeil sculptures which have brought her international recognition. Using leaves, flowers, and vegetables from her garden as inspiration for her work, we filmed her carving wood. We also see David create furniture and chainsaw a log. Stay tuned for more information!
