Filming at the Museo Textil

In Oaxaca, the Craft in America crew visited the Museo Textil de Oaxaca to see the featherwork exhibition Hilar el viento: Los Tejidos Mexicanos de Pluma (To Spin the Wind: The Plumed Weavings of Mexico). This exhibition featured rare and contemporary woven feather work created from research done by the museum referencing a textile fragment of the 18th century.

Work by Jim Bassler was also included in this exhibition. Jim’s weaving of George Washington is fabulous and looks a bit like Jim, don’t you think? Jim said he wasn’t sure what color George Washington’s eyes were since he based it on the one dollar bill so he made them blue.
