Filming at the Taller Arte Papel
Our last stop in Oaxaca was at Taller Arte Papel Vista Hermosa, where they make paper from native plants to create paper, books, kites, boxes, bags and jewelry. The taller is housed in a former hydroelectric plant so a small waterfall and river surround the place.
Enrique showed us the native bark, plants, flowers, cotton, hemp, and other materials that they use to make the paper. He also demonstrated the paper making process from the pulp to the final textured sheets.
Kiff Slemmons spent ten years collaborating with the artisans at the Taller to produce sculptural paper jewelry. Kiff worked side by side with Evelina, Maribel, and Heidy to create these stunning objects.
