Exhibition and Artist Talk at Idyllwild ARTS

A Nation of Makers: Works from the Craft in America Collection is on view at Idyllwild ARTS through November 20, 2015.

Last Friday, the Idyllwild community gathered for a talk with Craft in America Executive Director Carol Sauvion and artist Jim Bassler. Surrounded by artworks collected while filming our episodes, visitors learned about Craft in America’s multifaceted projects from Sauvion. Bassler spoke of his experiences teaching in Southern California while demonstrating historical objects that show weaving techniques from around the world. The take away from both the artist talks and exhibition, is a deep-seated understanding of how material traditions link us to our environment, culture, and each other.
