Pat Courtney Gold

Pat Courtney Gold is a basket maker influenced by her ancestors, the Wasco Indians. Her work is based on the baskets of her ancestors using the full turn twine technique but she experiments with different materials (cattail leaves, tule, dogbane fiber, cedar bark, tree roots, as well as chenille and dyed wool) and designs with similar patterns and motifs.

She is enrolled in the Wasco Nation of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Oregon. She received her BA in Mathematics from Whitman College and has taught mathematics and worked as a mathematician-computer specialist. Her work is represented in major museums nationally and internationally.
