Nate Cotterman

Nate Cotterman is a glass artist recognized for his modern approach to glassware. Using traditional Venetian glass blowing techniques, Cotterman has produced an array of glassworks, ranging from lighting, tableware, vases, and an innovative barware line.

Cotterman attended the Cleveland Institute of Art where he graduated with a B.F.A. in glass. Cotterman has taught at various institutions across the U.S. including the Cleveland Institute of Art, the University of Montana, the Pilchuck School of Glass, and the Pittsburgh Glass Center. These goblet constructions are a re-contextualization of traditional handmade glass stemware. The interior components are suspended inside the “model” frame, allowing the viewer to visually assemble a goblet composition. Cotterman, whose work is grounded in Venetian glass blowing techniques, questions the intersection between manufacturing and handcraftsmanship in our modern culture.
