Marcus Papay is a furniture designer and artist working in Encinitas, California. The concept behind his designs concentrates on the relationship between industrial design and handmade work. Papay creates unique objects that reflect the culture and style of modern day coastal Southern California. He received his BA in Applied Design and his MFA from San Diego State University in the Furniture Design Department. Papay is currently an instructor of Woodworking and Furniture Design at Miracosta College while continuing to produce designs for Papay Designs. He has exhibited locally and internationally and has apprenticed under Wendy Maruyama, Ben Wooten, and Matt Hebert.
