Harold (Hal) Eaton Riegger

An Alfred grad and teacher based in northern California, Riegger was one of the first Californian ceramists to introduce raku firing along with Mary Lindheim. After focusing on functional ceramics through the 1950s, he shifted towards sculptural, hand-built objects. He also built elaborate train models in two boxcars at his home, and this piece reflects that interest.
