Frank E. Cummings III

Frank E. Cummings III (b. 1938) is a sculptural woodturner. He is most known for his vessels formed on the lathe, then chiseled and sawed. He uses a variety of wood, gems and metals to create his works. He is a Professor of Fine Arts at California State University, Long Beach. He received his BA and MA from California State University, Long Beach. He also served as Associate Dean of the School of Arts at CSU Fullerton and has served as a consultant to the NEA and the State Department on Arts in America. His work has been exhibited nationwide and is in the collection of the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian Institution and the White House Collection of American Craft.
