Dorothy Gill Barnes
Dorothy Gill Barnes (b. 1927) is a sculptor who works in wood using the bark, branches and roots as she weaves sculptural vessels, often basket-like, that incorporate the unique characteristics of the wood.
She was born in Iowa and currently lives in Ohio. She received a BA and MFA from the University of Iowa. Her work can be found in the collection of the Museum of Arts and Design, the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Arkansas Arts Center.
