Brien Biedler
Brien Beidler is a bookbinder and toolmaker whose work explores pre-industrial book structures and their cultural significance. He studied chemistry at the College of Charleston before pursuing specialized training with master craftspeople. After serving as Director of the Bindery at the Charleston Library Society, he founded his own studio. His custom finishing tools and full-leather bindings for institutions like the Library of Congress are informed by deep historical research. Based in Minneapolis, he teaches workshops internationally, co-directs the Paper and Book Intensive, and contributes scholarly research on bookbinding techniques.
