Ato Riberio

Ato Ribeiro is a multidisciplinary artist who collects and repurposes wood to create richly grained and patterned wooden quilt sculptures. His art is inspired by the textiles of his African American and Ghanaian roots, from his birthplace in the United States to his upbringing in Accra, Ghana, where he embraced African history, culture, and crafts, before returning to the U.S. to earn a B.A. from Morehouse University in Atlanta and an M.F.A in Print Media from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He is based in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is a studio artist at the Atlanta Contemporary.
