Craft artists depend on their natural environment for both materials and inspiration. Materials are collected, combined and transformed through the creativity and necessity of human hands. This educational guide delves into the indispensable and innate relationships between artists and their environment, thus providing educators with material that will relate to and reflect the core ideas, artists, and art forms presented in the Landscape episode. We’ve set up guides for you in two ways: as individual theme guides covering the educators themesin “Landscape”: Natural Connections, Place, and Personal Landscape; and as a full guide that interweaves all the materials into one document plan. Click on “Learn More” for each of them, and you’ll find a link to download these pdfs. Then decide for yourself how you’d like to proceed with your class. Your students will be exposed to craft artists, the work they have created, and the way artists are influenced by the world around them – physical, political, and social. Your kids will enjoy the journey – so “pack” these guides and make the most of your trip. |
