Founded in 1993, the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide the best possible education for people who want to design and build functional and expressive work out of wood to the highest standard of craftsmanship. At the heart of the Center's mission is the belief that design and craftsmanship are processes of discovery that contribute to individual fulfillment and cultural transformation.
Located in beautiful Rockport, Maine, the Center offers four distinct programs for novice, intermediate, and advanced woodworkers: one-week and two-week Workshops, Twelve-week Intensives, Nine-month Comprehensives, and Studio Fellowships. The campus consists of four buildings on 12 acres of meadow and woods along the Oyster River, and is home to the Messler Gallery, a 1,000 square-foot space that is currently New England's only venue dedicated to year-round exhibition of studio furniture and contemporary wood art.
