Tom Eckert (b. 1942) is a Professor of Art at Arizona State University. His sculptures are formed entirely of wood using traditional woodworking techniques that include laminating, bending, carving, turning and painting.
He received his BFA and MFA at Arizona State University. In 1991, he received a Visual Arts Fellowship for three-dimensional media from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and received an unprecedented two WESTAF/NEA grants in 1989 and 1993. His sculptures can be found in numerous museums national-wide including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Racine Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Art & Design, Albuquerque Museum, El Paso Museum of Art, as well as many private collections.
