Curtis Benzle

Curtis Benzle (b. 1949) is a ceramist who forms vessels using slabs in porcelain. He uses the translucency of porcelain to incorporate light. He uses patterns in his imagery, including Braille, as well as leaves, insects, reptiles, petals.

He received his B.F.A. from Ohio State University, attended Rochester Institute of Technology School for the American Craftsman, and received a M.A. from Northern Illinois University. He is currently a professor at Columbus College of Art and Design. His work can be found in the White House Collection of Contemporary Crafts, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Smithsonian Institution, and the Mint Museum of Art, among others.
