Ralph Baccera (1938-2008) was a ceramist and educator. His artwork draws from Japanese and Chinese ceramics and uses the technique of overglazing to create vivid and colorful surface decoration.
He received his B.F.A from Chouinard Art Institute, where he taught for 9 years. He also taught at Otis College of Art and Design, until the ceramics department closed in 1988. He is a fellow of the American Craft Council. His work can be found in the collections of Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Oakland Museum, Arizona State University Art Museum, The White House Collection, Cooper Hewitt Museum, Mint Museum of Craft and Design, among others.
